Submission Guidelines All submissions must adhere to these guidelines. Not all submissions will see print. By submitting, you give the staff of CCM the right to use your submission on Crucible City MUX in any way they see fit, but no other rights. I'm interested most in the current state of these civilizations; that is, what a player would find if he or she was to go there right now. Also, I am only interested in civilizations that are in the same dimension as Earth-Prime. It can be really far away, but you need to be able to get there from here. While your alien civilization may have contact with Earth and even a permanent presence there, this is not the place for alien groups which live primarily on Earth. Aliens Among Us are cool, but this is not their book. Astronomical accuracy counts. If you don't know how what a parsec is, and can't be bothered to look it up, at least don't use the word. At the same time, this is a comic book game, not the Foundation series, so a certain amount of science fantasy and pseudo scientific gobbledygook is perfectly acceptable. There is no limit to the number of times a player may enter. Quality, however, counts more than quantity. I want your best idea, not every idea you have. I need the following 10 items from you, describing your alien civilization. Each of these items should be at least one sentence but no more than a paragraph. In some cases, this will require extreme brevity. You must decide what is most important about the alien civilization and focus on that. Each of these items should begin a new paragraph. Keep to the format. For example, the 7th paragraph of every submission will describe technology. If in doubt, see the sample entry that has been provided (Earth: Mostly Harmless). The more editing I need to do to your submission, the less likely it is that your entry will see print. Deadline: March 1 Entries mailed to Clark@cruciblecity.net 1) Thumbnail. This is a one or two sentence capsule description of the alien civilization you are describing. The short form. 2) Physical Qualities. Describe the physical characteristics of the alien race. If your submission is an Empire or other organization that includes more than one alien race, you'll just have to do your best. Be sure to note any superhuman powers the race may have. You can use some M&M rules here, but save what you can for the stat block, below. 3) History. A very brief history of the race. What I'm most interested in are distinctive moments in history and major trends. Leave vast swaths blank; you'll have no other choice if you want to stick with one paragraph. 4) Recent History. What has been going on with this civilization in the last few years. 5) Culture. Describe the culture of the alien society. How do they live? What are they like? 6) Government. How is the society ruled and how does that government behave? 7) Technology. Give us a feel for the kind of technology we can expect to encounter when we meet this society. Note any unusual or unique technologies which might give players and GMs a feel for what they can improvise when using this race. 8) Scope. How extensive is this society? Are they limited to one world, or do they have colonies on several planets? How numerous are they and how influential? (Tip: Think small. There's only room for a few intergalactic civilizations and about a dozen or so major one-race realms, but we can have an infinite number of races confined to one planet.) 9) Interaction. How has this alien civilization interacted with Earth? With its neighbors? How is it perceived by other galactic civilizations? 10) Stat Block. Give me a stat block for a typical unnamed member of this race whom players are likely to encounter. If you are not sure what to write up, give me the equivalent of a US Marine. Also, explain the stat block you have just provided, including how they will react to humans. Deadline: March 1 Entries mailed to Clark@cruciblecity.net
